Private and Commercial Add-On
Goals
Adding a multi-engine rating to an existing airplane pilot certificate does not have a specific hour requirement specified under part 61. Most students are able to complete their training in 8-15 hours of dual instruction. By completing the training in the type of airplane you're expecting to fly you may also be meeting all or part of your insurance minimums at the same time.
This program is designed to introduce multi-engine characteristics, and give you the experience necessary with both engines operating as well as one engine inoperative to pass your multi-engine checkride
Your training will cover
Aircraft systems and aerodynamics
Slow flight, stalls, steep turns and emergency descents
Introduction to one engine inoperative flight
Instrument approaches in the twin
Minimum controllable airspeed (Vmc) demo and simulated single engine approaches
Emergency procedures
Normal and crosswind takeoffs and landings
Short field takeoffs and landings
Aborted takeoffs and single engine landings
Night flight (if desired)
At the end of your successful training you will be qualified under part 61 to take your Private or Commercial Airplane Multi-Engine Land add-on checkride
